Mekhi McKinney

is a 24-year-old, purpose-driven influencer who pushes people to not only see but be the world changers of today. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a minor in Mass Communications at Virginia State University this past spring.

A product of the Washington Metropolitan area, basketball was the only thing that gave him an identity. It wasn’t until his senior year of high school where he realized the sport ignited core gifts and skills that could be transferred into his calling.

After going through traumatic losses, the most difficult battle he had to face was himself. The insecurity of his teeth, small body frame and use of his DMV slang didn’t fit the “attractive public figure package.”  It was VSU that birthed the three-piece suit wearing, confident smiling but wasn’t afraid to speak his mind young man. The moment he tapped into his authenticity, it opened doors such as interning for The Coca-Cola Company, Harvard Library and later being the face for all HBCUs serving as the 2nd Runner Up to Mister HBCU. Understanding that it was God that opened every single door, the choice to allow people to experience Mekhi McKinney, started with him.

Today, Mekhi continues that mission not only through speaking—but through music. As an artist, he uses sound and storytelling to challenge the narratives people believe about themselves, encouraging listeners to renew their minds and reconnect with their God-given identity. His work sits at the intersection of faith, culture, and creativity, reminding people that their purpose is not something they have to chase—it’s something they were created to walk in.

Understanding that every opportunity came from God opening the door, Mekhi’s mission is simple: create spaces—whether through a stage, a song, or a conversation—where people can encounter truth, rediscover themselves, and step boldly into who they were always meant to be.
